Deli / Meat Counter Clerk


Meat Clerk's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide premier customer service, including greeting customers and responding to questions.
  • Assist customers by taking their order and removing meat product from case, weighing the item and entering correct price per pound, and wrapping the item and labeling the package.
  • Unloads fresh and boxed meats and poultry from delivery trucks (heavy lifting) and transports them to storage/display coolers
  • Examines meats in display cases and rotates meats to ensure freshness
  • Cleans equipment and storage coolers and display cases at end of day- as required daily
  • Observe all store rules and company policies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress regulations
  • Follow safety and health guidelines when working, especially when lifting, using cutting tools or large machinery and ensuring product is safe for customers
Required: The required qualifications are as follows:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • ability to deliver friendly, courteous, prompt customer service
  • ability to read, write and perform simple math problems
  • ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problem

Safety and Security - Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Language Ability:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
